Five NKUST USR Projects Light Up 2022 USR EXPO

Release Date 6 Dec 2022    Mandarin

The Ministry of Education (MOE) held the 2022 USR EXPO at the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park in Taipei on Dec 6.

The University has five USR projects that attended this grand event covering issues such as the ocean, fishery, education, agriculture, ecology, environment, and regional revitalization. These projects presented the University's capacities to explore various sustainable issues, which specially focused their resources on areas in southern Taiwan.

NKUST USR teams demonstrated the University's social responsibilities with a sense of mission to fulfill sustainable development by providing feasible solutions to address local problems.

The University has transformed these USR projects into courses. Both teachers and students have to learn to integrate resources from different aspects to achieve sustainable development by providing concrete and viable solutions after listening to local residents' opinions and needs.

In this year’s USR EXPO, President Yang, Ching-Yu was invited to deliver a keynote speech on “Sustainable University: Cultivating Academic Talents of the Next Generation for Future Education.”

President Yang’s speech focused on promoting university policies to support USR, motivating people toward sustainability, and sharing the USR primary strategy and the vision to bring a win-win solution for locals and the University.

Sustainability will never be a passing fad. It requires the University to execute this goal with determination and courage. With this in mind, NKUST builds up an administrative, academic, and bonus system to bolster all USR teams, giving everyone strong backing.
