Graduating Students Jostling for Top Slots in Young Designer's Exhibition 2021

Release Date 29 April 2021

** Attention! A Rise in COVID-19 Again! YODEX has announced a cancellation of the event on May 11. **

NKUST Industrial Design Department (ID) graduating students of 2021 have exhibited their designs at First Campus on May 14 and will present their works from May 14 to 17 at the 2021 Young Designer's Exhibition (YODEX). The Ceremony for Young Pin Design Award and Young Pin Design Sponsored Special Award will also be held on YODEX.

ID students won the top prize in product design at Young Pin Design Award last year. This year, ID students have 3 designs nominated for four of the Young Pin Design Awards and 10 designs nominated for eleven special awards. The standout winners will be announced at the Young Pin Design Award Ceremony on May 16.

In 2020, the award ceremony of both awards was canceled due to the outbreak of COVID-19. Our graduate Wang, Yu-Wei (王諭薇) and Wu, Syuan-Huei (吳宣褘), whose design work “Rotate Restaurant Trolley” won the top prize in product design, didn’t have the chance to receive the prize on the ceremony.

Thus, Taiwan Design Research Institute (TDRI) Vice Dean Lin, Sin-Bao (林鑫保) led his team to visit NKUST in-person to grant the award to students.

As talents with problem-solving and creative design skills are in the spotlight in many sectors, young people have been developing their own way to appreciate creative design works.

These awards attracted numerous promising talents across the nation to battle it out. We are expecting that our graduating students would be winners in the awards this year.
