In December 2020, students and teams from the Public Finance and Taxations Department won gold, silver, and many other awards at the regional championships of the WMP Case Competition (全國大專校院理財規劃案例競賽) held by Taiwan Wealth Management Planning Consultant Certification Association (WMPCCA), making NKUST the biggest winner among all universities in the southern region.

These winning students, consulted by Dr. Chang, Chuen-Ping, applied what they learned in the classroom in WMP Case Competition. They were like the students of the Public Finance and Taxation Department in another competition, the 2020 Yuanta Securities Formula Trade Competition (元大校園台股模擬交易競賽) last November, carrying solutions to win awards. Undoubtedly, these competitions will help college participants to get ready for their future job applications.

The team champion “Savvy Wealth Management,” formed by Wang, Sih-Han (王思涵), Shen, Siou-Shan (沈秀珊), and Jheng, Yi-Cing (鄭怡青,) executed a variety of instruments to develop a tailored wealth management strategy to meet the customer’s need. The whole process of solving a real-life case was very practical and the students commented that they could even apply it to themselves. However, their biggest challenge was to clearly explain their strategy and how it would achieve the customer’s goals. The competition is not just a nice practice for students to apply their knowledge but also helps them to build up communication skills, teamwork skills, and other workplace skills.

The competition allows students to combine financial theories and practical application, so the students will be able to sharpen their professional knowledge.
