NKUST Won Best School of the Year in the 2021 Times Young Creative Award
Release Date 13 December 2021 Mandarin
Times Young Creative Awards (JinDu) is the most influential award among Chinese populations around the globe. The contest attracted students of advertising design, mass communication, and marketing majors to submit the best of their work. The student contestants were of various countries, including the U.S, Germany, South Korea, and so on.
The awards ceremony was held at Le Méridien Taipei on Dec 6. Cultural and Creative Industries Department (CCI) bagged nine prizes, and NKUST was named the Best School of the Year Award at this year’s Times Young Creative Awards.
This year is the 30th anniversary of JinDu, and the 2021 award has attracted 81,173 submissions from students of 1,414 tertiary educational institutions globally.
NKUST CCI received two Gold Awards, one Silver Award, two 1st prizes, two 2nd prizes, one 3rd prize, and five Merit Awards. All together made NKUST won the Best School of the Year Award.
It was not the first time that the CCI received JinDu Gold and Silver Awards. Last year the department also won one Gold for Marketing Plan Category and one Silver for Animation Category.
“The awards are the best way to celebrate all the hard work students have put in during the past two months.”
“The JinDu award always receives tons of submissions from students globally, but its winning rate is less than 5%. In other words, it’s the hardest one to win among design competitions. Thus, we are so proud to see 85% of students’ works enter the awards nomination list. In the past two months, these students worked days and nights to hammer out an idea or to draw and write a compelling ad. Through numerous discussions, students eventually chipped off rough pieces and carved the best of their works. The awards are the best way to celebrate all the hard work students have put in during the past two months,” said Coach and CCI Professor Jain, Jhin-Ping.
Prof. Jain added that CCI students represented the core value of the department. CCI developed its courses based on Taiwan’s own cultures, and it combined storytelling, digital design, marketing, and mass communication into classes to provide students with an integrated curriculum.
This curriculum cultivated students’ design thinking through actual cases. Each case required students to present a combination of their studies, personal experiences, and thoughts from book reading or other visual ways.
These cases were of variety and offered students opportunities to understand the standard of different industries. CCI has worked with many enterprises like PANJIT International Inc., Gseven, Hotel Royal Group, and many other companies.
This year marked the 20th anniversary of the founding of CCI. The winning of JinDu awards cheered up all faculty members and students. President Yang visited CCI exhibition show to give everybody encouragement.
