The National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology (NKUST), through a joint effort by its College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and College of Management, has successfully launched a landmark joint conference from July 16-18 at the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center. The event, which combines two flagship conferences of the IEEE Consumer Technology Society (CTSoc)—ICCE-TW and GEM—has gathered over 500 global experts in consumer electronics, gaming, and entertainment technology, showcasing Taiwan's rapid growth and elevated international standing in these fields.
The International Conference on Consumer Electronics in Taiwan (ICCE-TW) and the International Conference on Games, Entertainment, and Multimedia (GEM) are both premier conferences under the IEEE CTSoc, with a long-standing history of driving academic and industrial development in global consumer and entertainment technologies. This year marks the first time NKUST has hosted the two events jointly, creating a new milestone for knowledge exchange. The presence of Prof. Fabrice Labeau, the current President of the IEEE CTSoc, for the entire duration of the conference highlights the event's significant academic value and importance.
This joint conference represents a unique opportunity to demonstrate Taiwan's R&D prowess. While this is the 12th year ICCE-TW has been held in Taiwan, it is the first time the prestigious IEEE GEM has been hosted on the island.
The conference leadership includes Professor Wan-Jung Chang of the NKUST Department of Electronic Engineering, serving as the General Chair for ICCE-TW 2025, and Distinguished Professor Chris K.W. Su of the NKUST Department of Information Management, serving as the General Chair for IEEE GEM. The event is co-organized by NKUST's College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, College of Management, Department of Information Management, and Department of Industrial Engineering and Management, along with the Consumer Technology Society of ROC and the Ergonomics Society of Taiwan. The international academic gathering has also received significant support from the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), the Ministry of Education (MOE), and the Economic Development Bureau of the Kaohsiung City Government.
The three-day program features a diverse range of activities, including keynote speeches, oral and poster presentations, tutorials, and a Women in Engineering (WIE) forum to foster academic exchange and technology sharing. The six keynote topics cover cutting-edge issues, including:
In addition to the technical program, NKUST has also organized three distinct cultural tour itineraries, allowing international guests to experience Taiwan's rich cultural heritage and soft power alongside its technological achievements.
