NKUST has signed a discount agreement with Sanduo Shopping District Development Association (SSDDA) on Mar 10 under the witness of Speaker of the Kaohsiung City Council Zeng, Li-Yan, and Councilor Cheng, Kuang-Feng.

 

Shops or stores of SSDDA within Sanduo Shopping District with special NKUST stickers would provide NKUST community members, including its students, faculty members, staff, and alumni, with discounts or perks.*

 

In recent years, the Kaohsiung City Government has been actively driving a transformative upgrade in Kaohsiung's industries and urban areas. A few new shopping districts were built and successfully drew consumers.

 

For old shopping districts, it was not good news. Old shopping districts must have to vie with new ones to retain old customers and attract new consumers. SSDDA expected that the new agreement with NKUST could bring new opportunities for the district.

 

NKUST has 28,128 enrolled students, 1,614 faculty members, and more than 200,000 alumni, and they represent an important demographic as prospective customers to the Sanduo shopping district.

 

Kaohsiung City Council Speaker Zeng and Councilor Cheng were at the signing ceremony to witness a new partnership between the school and the shopping district.

 

“I'm glad to see such positive development between colleges and shopping districts. The new cooperation could certainly unlock new opportunities and experiences for sellers, shoppers, and tourists,” says Kaohsiung City Council Speaker Zeng.

 

“Partnering with different sectors could bring new consumers from various areas.”

 

President of SSDDA Hsu, Chi-Tien noted: “Partnering with different sectors could bring new consumers from various areas. By doing so, our district would not only attract regular clients, but college students, staff, and teachers across the city.” Hsu expected this new partnership would stimulate and revive the shopping district.

 

Near the shopping district, there’s a new industrial and cultural area, Asia New Bay Area (亞洲新灣區), under construction. The city government is actively promoting the site. Once more companies settle in, this area will revitalize its neighboring districts.
